DOING JUST WHAT I MUST DO
Words & Music
James Rainho
My Dad is the most successful
and looked up to man in town
And even as a little boy I followed Dad around
And now I'm a man with manly things to do
But I'm right in daddy's footsteps doing what he wants me to.

DOING JUST WHAT I MUST DO,
. DOING JUST WHAT I MUST DO
Must I live my life through,
Without doing what I really want to do
DOING JUST WHAT I MUST DO.
I married Betty Johnson as my
Mamma thought I should
Her daddy too is well to do and from our neighborhood
Now we have a son. and he's my pride and joy
So I must think of our future, and make plans for the boy.
Ruby Scott whose reputation is
quite well known in this town
Gives me her certain kind of look ev'ry time she comes around
I just look away, and pretend that I don't see
And it kills me to ignore her and do what's expected of me.
DOING JUST WHAT I MUST DO - Cont.(*)
Ev'ry Sunday with the congregation
I kneel down and pray,
But sometimes my mind wanders off to places far away
With a girl in my arms, in a secluded den of sin
But my dream just falls to pieces, at the sound of Amen.
I guess I'm just a product of
something called status quo
And I'm caught in this evil web, and I just can't let go
This chain I'm chained with is made of solid gold
So I'll go on living this life, 'til I die or grow old.
